NARRATIVE: Clouds and our escort saved us from being jumped by enemy fighters. There was nothing to save us from the bone chilling cold. But the clouds also kept us from dropping our bombs on the target. We returned our bombs. This made for a very nervous landing even though Robert James, our pilot, is excellent. Other pilots jettisoned their bombs over the Adriatic in order make a safe landing.
